Subject : Application for a deep tube-well.
Sir,
We, the inhabitants of the village of Rasulpur under your union beg to inform, you that about 5000 people live in our village. But it is a matter of great regret that the villagers are suffering much for the want of pure drinking water for a long time. There are some tube-wells in our locality. A few of them are found arsenic contaminated and they are already painted red. Several of them have started drawing up a lot of mud and sand. Sometimes the water stinks. As a result these tube wells serve practicaly no purposes. So there is a great dearth of drinking water to this area. The women have to fetch water from the nearby village. Very often the villagers have to drink polluted water from the ponds, canals or river. And as a result, they suffer from various diseases like cholera, typhoid, dysentery etc.
Under the above circumstances, we request you to set up necessary number of tube-wells in our locality as early as possible.

স্যার,
আমরা আপনাদের ইউনিয়নের রসুলপুর গ্রামের বাসিন্দাদের জানাতে অনুরোধ করছি, আমাদের গ্রামে প্রায় ৫ হাজার লোক বাস করে। কিন্তু অত্যন্ত পরিতাপের বিষয় যে, দীর্ঘদিন ধরে বিশুদ্ধ খাবার পানির অভাবে গ্রামবাসীরা চরম দুর্ভোগের শিকার হচ্ছেন। আমাদের এলাকায় কিছু নলকূপ আছে। তাদের মধ্যে কয়েকটি আর্সেনিক দূষিত পাওয়া গেছে এবং সেগুলি ইতিমধ্যেই লাল রঙ করা হয়েছে। তাদের মধ্যে বেশ কয়েকজন প্রচুর কাদা-বালি তোলা শুরু করেছে। মাঝে মাঝে পানিতে দুর্গন্ধ হয়। ফলে এই নলকূপগুলো কার্যত কোনো কাজে আসে না। তাই এই এলাকায় পানীয় জলের তীব্র সংকট দেখা দিয়েছে। আশেপাশের গ্রাম থেকে মহিলাদের জল আনতে হয়। প্রায়ই গ্রামবাসীদের পুকুর, খাল বা নদীর দূষিত পানি পান করতে হয়। আর এর ফলে তারা কলেরা, টাইফয়েড, আমাশয় ইত্যাদি নানা রোগে আক্রান্ত হয়।
উপরের পরিস্থিতিতে, আমরা যত তাড়াতাড়ি সম্ভব আমাদের এলাকায় প্রয়োজনীয় সংখ্যক নলকূপ স্থাপন করার জন্য আপনাকে অনুরোধ করছি।
