Pahela Boishakh.
Answer : Pahela Boishakh is the first day of Bangla New Year. The day is a public holiday. This day has a special significance for us as it forms a part of Bangalee culture and tradition. People from all walks of life, irrespective of their ethnic identity or religious beliefs, celebrate the day with traditional festivities. On this day, the whole of Bangladesh is in a festive mood. People wake up early in the morning, have a bath and wear their traditional clothes. Women wear white saris with red borders and adorn themselves with colourful churis and flowers, while men dress themselves with pajamas and panjabis. It is a day when people love eating traditional food. People attend the cultural function at Ramna Batamul organised by Chhayanat just with sunrise. The renowned artists of the country take part in this programme. People also come to join the colourful processions, the biggest carnival of the country, organised by the Fine Arts students of Dhaka University, On this day, newspapers bring out special supplements. There are also special programmes on the radio and television channels. The celebration of Pahela Boishakh marks a day of cultural unity for the whole nation irrespective of caste and creed.

বঙ্গানুবাদ : পহেলা বৈশাখ বাংলা নববর্ষের প্রথম দিন। দিনটি সরকারী ছুটি দিন। বাঙালি সংস্কৃতি ও ঐতিহ্যের একটি অঙ্গ হিসাবে এটি আমাদের জন্য এই দিনটির একটি বিশেষ তাত্পর্য রয়েছে। জাতিগত পরিচয় বা ধর্মীয় বিশ্বাস নির্বিশেষে সর্বস্তরের লোকেরা দিনটি ঐতিহ্যবাহী উত্সব দ্বারা উদযাপন করে। এই দিনটিতে পুরো বাংলাদেশ উৎসবমুখর মেজাজে আছে। লোকেরা খুব সকালে ঘুম থেকে ওঠে, স্নান করে তাদের ঐতিহ্যবাহী পোশাক পরে যায়। মহিলারা লাল সীমান্ত সহ সাদা শাড়ি পরে এবং রঙিন ছুরি এবং ফুল দিয়ে নিজেকে সাজায়, পুরুষরা পায়জামা এবং পাঞ্জাবী পরে নিজেকে সাজায়। এটি এমন একটি দিন যখন মানুষ ঐতিহ্যবাহী খাবার খাওয়া পছন্দ করে। ছায়ানট আয়োজিত রমনা বাটমুলের সাংস্কৃতিক অনুষ্ঠানে লোকেরা সবেমাত্র সূর্যোদয়ের সাথে সাথে যোগ দেয়। দেশের নামী শিল্পীরা এই কর্মসূচিতে অংশ নেন। ঢাকা বিশ্ববিদ্যালয়ের চারুকলার শিক্ষার্থীরা আয়োজিত দেশের বৃহত্তম কার্নিভাল বর্ণাট্য শোভাযাত্রায় যোগ দিতে লোকেরা আসে, এই দিনে সংবাদপত্রগুলি বিশেষ পরিপূরক নিয়ে আসে। রেডিও এবং টেলিভিশন চ্যানেলগুলিতেও বিশেষ অনুষ্ঠান রয়েছে। পহেলা বৈশাখ উদযাপন বর্ণ ও বর্ণ নির্বিশেষে সমগ্র জাতির জন্য সাংস্কৃতিক ঐক্যের দিন হিসাবে চিহ্নিত হয়েছে।
