মূলভাব : ভোগ বিলাসিতায় প্রকৃত সুখ পাওয়া যায় না। প্রকৃত সুখ আসে আত্মত্যাগের মধ্য দিয়ে।

সম্প্রসারিত ভাব : ভোগ ও ত্যাগ মানবের আত্মবনতি ও আত্মমুক্তির রক্তাক্ত দলিল। ভোগাকাঙ্ক্ষা মানবের সীমাহীন দুঃখের কারণ। ত্যাগ মানুষকে রিক্ত করে না; বরং পূর্ণতাই এনে দেয়। অপরের হিতার্থে যিনি নিজের জীবন অকাতরে বিলিয়ে দেন, মৃত্যুর পরে তিনি আরো বড় হয়ে বেঁচে উঠেন। কবির কথায়—
“নিঃশেষে প্রাণ যে করিবে দান,
ক্ষয় নাই তার ক্ষয় নাই । ”
আমরা যখন ভোগের জীবন যাপন করি তখন শুধু নিজের জন্য বাঁচি। এ বাঁচা মৃত্যুর সাথে সাথেই শেষ হয়ে যায়। যখন ত্যাগের জীবন যাপন করি, তখন পরের জন্যেও বাঁচি। জীবনে ত্যাগ থাকলে জীবন অর্থবহ হয়। ত্যাগের মনোভাব মানুষকে মহৎ করে তোলে, অন্তরকে অপার আনন্দে পূর্ণ করে দেয়। অসহায়, বিপন্ন ও দুর্দশাগ্রস্ত মানুষের কল্যাণে তাদের পাশে দাঁড়াতে পারলে অন্তরে অনির্বচনীয় শান্তি ও সুখের ধারা বয়ে যায়। তাই ত্যাগ আমাদের চরিত্রের সর্বোচ্চ আদর্শ হওয়া উচিত। ত্যাগের মাধ্যমে শ্রেষ্ঠ জীব মানুষ অমরত্ব লাভ করতে পারে। ত্যাগ মহাশক্তি। অপরদিকে, ভোগ হচ্ছে লক্ষ ফণা সাপ। তাকে পদদলিত করা আমাদের কর্তব্য। ভোগাকাঙ্ক্ষার নিবৃত্তি না হওয়া পর্যন্ত আমরা সার্থক মানুষ হিসেবে নিজেদের পরিচয় দিতে পারব না। যে ত্যাগ করতে জানে ভোগের অধিকার তারই জন্মে।
মন্তব্য : নিঃস্বার্থভাবে অপরের জন্য জীবন বিলিয়ে দেয়ার মাঝেই জীবনে আসে চরম সার্থকতা। তাই ভোগকে পরিহার করে ত্যাগকে যাগত জানানো উচিত।

When we live a life of indulgence, we live only for ourselves. This life ends with death. When you live a life of sacrifice, live for the next. Life is meaningful if there is sacrifice in life. The spirit of sacrifice makes man noble, fills the heart with immense joy. If you can stand beside the helpless, endangered and distressed people for their welfare, indescribable peace and happiness flows in the heart. So sacrifice should be the highest ideal of our character. Through renunciation the best living beings can attain immortality. Sacrifice is the power. On the other hand, there are lakhs of hooded snakes. It is our duty to crush him. We cannot identify ourselves as worthwhile human beings until we have renounced our desires for pleasure. He who knows how to sacrifice is born with the right to enjoyment.
Comment : selflessly giving your life for others is the ultimate fulfillment in life. Therefore, renunciation should be known by avoiding enjoyment.
